About Me
Rebecca J. Becker, MEd.
I grew up in the greater Philly metro area, mostly in Cherry Hill, NJ.
I met my husband Tom at Bloomsburg University (PA) in the early 80s, where I graduated with a BS in Elementary Education and an MS in Teaching of the Hearing Impaired.
Within two years of marrying Tom, we welcomed our first child. Four more children were added to our family circle in the next 12 years.
My mothering included 25 years of homeschooling; in time my husband and I welcomed 3 sons-in-law to our family, as well as two granddaughters in Philadelphia, and a grandson in Colorado.
I love babies and supporting new moms. I passionately feel that postpartum weeks are so important in getting a mom and baby and family on a healthy path forward.
I support my husband Tom in running a community non-profit, The Row House (Lancaster, PA.)
My hobbies include reading, gardening, walking (and walking my dog :) and I am an active member of my church community.
We live in the northwest corner of the city of Lancaster, adjacent to Franklin and Marshall College.

What is a doula?
The history of the word comes from the Greek, meaning ‘a woman who serves.’ In the modern world it is meant to mean ‘a support person, usually female….. who provides emotional and practical assistance to a pregnant mother or couple before, during or after childbirth.’
